PARADOX Collaborating With VOGT Brothers On 'Heresy ll' Concept Album

January 7, 2014

In 1987, German metallers PARADOX got together with two English brothers, Peter and Nigel Vogt, to write a few tracks together, with PARADOX guitarist/vocalist Charly Steinhauer composing the music and the brothers coming up with the lyrics. The songs finally came together on the band's debut album, "Product Of Imagination", an irreverent and satirical play on religion, modern literature and fantasy.

In 1989, the brothers and Charly collaborated again, and this time the brothers had moved to a history-rich part of southern France. With their new-found knowledge, the brothers wrote a concept story based on the region's turbulent history, This story became the concept album "Heresy". Based wholly on factual evidence, the album went on to become a huge success, not only in Germany but in far-flung places such as Japan, the U.S. and Greece. It went on to become the band's best-selling album.

Now, after twenty-five years and thanks to the Internet, PARADOX and the brothers have joined forces again to write a new concept album, "Heresy ll - A Lasting Treasure". Written some years ago, it follows on from "Heresy". However, whereas "Heresy" was based on fact, "Heresy ll" is based on fact and fiction, but who is to say what part is truth and what part is a product of imagination?

The story is once again set in France and follows the massacre of the heretics at Montsegur. Songs such as "Escape From The Burning" and "A Mountain Life" set the tale and we follow a small Roman lamp in the shape of a fish through centuries of history and into the future. Other songs tell of its long journey through time ("Journey Into Fear"),the people involved ("A Man Of Sorrow") and many more.

"Heresy ll - A Lasting Treasure" should be finished later this year.

PARADOX in October 2013 signed a new worldwide deal with AFM Records, extending its contract with the label.

PARADOX's latest album, "Tales Of The Weird", was released in December 2012 via AFM Records. The CD was produced by Steinhauer and was mixed and mastered by Victor Bullok (a.k.a. V. Santura; TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS) at Woodshed Studio in Landshut, Germany. The cover art was created by Claudio Bergamin.

"Tales Of The Weird" featured guest appearances by Bob Katsionis (FIREWIND) and Gus Drax (SUNBURST).

PARADOX is:

Charly Steinhauer (vocals, guitar)
Christian Muenzner (guitar)
Tommy Kittsteiner Calvanese (bass)
Daniel "Evil Ewald" Buld (drums)
